2.6 kernel fun

Trying to transfer files at [Brady]'s the past couple times has been a pain; I've only been getting half of what I should from 100MBit (\~5MB/s). I surmised that it might be the test 2.6 kernels I was using from the Fedora development tree.

Needless to say, it is. If I run any of the Fedora 2.4 kernels (stock or updates), I get what I should (\~10-11MB/s transfers). What I've discovered is:

  • 2.6.1: slow transfers, but otherwise stable
  • 2.6.3 (1.91): fast transfers, but unstable
  • 2.6.5 (1.92+): unknown: the damn thing hangs on boot

So, I'm back to 2.6.1. I guess I'll boot into 2.4 if I need to transfer anything big :(
